This privacy policy governs your use of the software application ESA My Vegetation App (“Application”) for mobile devices that was created in the scope of the Frame Contract for Social Media and Mobile Applications Development for EO Ground Segment and Mission Operations, European Space Agency (“ESA”) Contract Number 4000112250.
The Application allows taking pictures, associating them with information about the vegetation in the place where they were taken and sharing them on social networks.
The Application does not require any registration. The only information you provide are the pictures you take and the metadata you add to these, namely:
In addition, the Application uses the location services of your device in order to automatically set the coordinates of the location where a picture was taken, if available. The same services are used to locate you on the map.
The date and time when a picture was taken are also automatically associated with it.
The user-provided and automatically collected information mentioned above stay on your device with one exception.
In order to provide you with the state of the vegetation and the other indicators superimposed on the pictures, the coordinates of the location associated with the picture are sent to the Application’s servers. Your location is only used to return the corresponding indexes and is not stored on the servers.
Moreover, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for the information transmitted when you decide to share the pictures generated by the Application.
The Application’s servers collect request logs for statistical purposes. These logs contain the following information:
The standard logs of the Web servers do not contain the full IP address of the user and are deleted at the end of every day.
When you authorize the Application with a social network, you provide certain data that the Application stores on your device. The Application uses that data to connect to the API provided by the social network. However, the Application does not store passwords to your accounts.
The Application uses the API of social networks to fetch information about photos from particular groups or hashtags that you provided to the Application. The Application uses only basic data like image links, tags and captions. The Application does not store the images in any way. The Application only uses the required URLs to display the images. The images come directly from the social network.
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the Application.
The commencement date of this privacy policy is the 1st of October 2017.
